SPARC.
A platform for building immersive training lessons quickly and delivering them to a headset, or to an ordinary browser over WebGL.
- Owner
- Robles Industries LLC
- Developed
- After the SBIR ended in April 2024
- Status
- Working version, in development
- Demonstration
- Shown at a military conference in Canada
What it is
Lessons are built once and served from a cloud backend through an API, which is how SPARC connects to a learning management system. The same lesson runs on a headset or in a browser.
Where it comes from
SPARC grew out of the AFWERX SBIR Phase II work described on the Work page, where Frank Robles was on the winning proposal team and development lead under the prime, taking the effort from zero code to a working solution. SPARC was built after that contract ended, as a new codebase, on the ideas the Air Force work proved out. The Air Force contract belongs to the prime. SPARC belongs to Robles Industries. Full case record and SBIR record.
Status
Working demonstration; not fielded
A working demonstration was shown at a military conference in Canada and drew interest. Completing the application is the next step. SPARC is not fielded, deployed, or in use by any government customer, and this page will say so until that changes.
How it is built
- Client
- Unity, for headsets and WebGL in the browser
- Server
- Django and Django REST Framework on PostgreSQL, direct-to-S3 uploads, deployed on Amazon Web Services, serving lessons over an API
